The Eagles Have Landed – New volleyball club at Freebrough


Freebrough Academy are linking up with Volleyball England to set up a long term project aimed at giving the students and the local community the chance to learn and play volleyball. The sessions will be led by Anthony Laffan, a current award winning national coach, who is leading the way in developing inclusive volleyball. Anthony is also the Head Coach for the national league side North Riding Eagles.

In memory of Liam Wright

On Thursday 15 December 2016, Freebrough Academy staff and students joined together to perform a Mannequin Challenge in memory of Liam Wright, an ex-student who passed away recently. It not only provided an opportunity for all of us at the Academy to show our respects, but it also allowed us to raise money for Liam’s family’s chosen charities.

Year 11 Steps to Success Event

Wednesday 11 January 2017

4.00 pm- 6.00 pm

You and your parents can gain effective study skills which will support examination success this summer. You will receive a revision kit on the evening. Raffle tickets are £1 per strip, giving accompanying parents a chance to win a hamper.

Former student Marcus set to ‘pass out’ in February

marcus-earlFormer Freebrough Academy student Marcus Earl, has completed his six week initial training with the Royal Engineers in Harrogate. Due to ‘pass out’ in February, Marcus found the training to be challenging but with grit and resilience he completed it. Marcus has also had many opportunities during his time already including: a three day exercise in Catterick and a trip to France to learn about the different wars.
